Away for the Weekend

Away for the Weekend

Valentines came and went, so whats next is Reg's birthday. Purposely we also had our last holiday for this calendar year so made sure to make the most out of it, even if its just for the weekend. It has been a while. In the light of all the storm and flooding that's been going on instead of going north we proactively researched where to go and went southeast if it makes any sense. Thus we went to.....

Maidstone. Why? Just because. And maybe our stars were right that weekend for we had weather like this instead..

Anyway, just want to share the highlights of our trip for me.

1. Village Urban Resort. "Everything under one roof" they claim. Just a break away from the city without having to go too far. https://www.village-hotels.co.uk/

2. MuMu. If ever you are in these part, this place is sure worth a visit. No, rather make sure you visit. A must in fact. Trip advisor actually named this No. 1  restaurant in Maidstone if I'm not mistaken. After a minor error with the reservation the experience was worth the hype. It was brilliant. And if I get down to it I think it's because of all the little details, the crumpled menu, treasure chest for bill, gold coins etc. Nonetheless, the food is superb a little pricey perhaps but it was a true value. Taste and serving wise. http://www.mumuexperience.com/

3. Leeds Castle. 'The Loveliest Castle in the World' As I've mentioned before I am an old soul and an anglophile so it only follows that I would love castles and well history that comes with it. I walked into Queen Catherine of Aragon's bedroom!!! I've only read about her in books. The ground is just pretty, no wonder it got its title. I bet come spring time it will be more beautiful. http://www.leeds-castle.com

As I am enjoying my castle the birthday boy was busy himself and having a happiness bubble to himself. For there in the castle also resides... ducks!

Go,
 Going,

Gone.

Looking through our pictures it dawned on me that it is quite unfortunate that were both not into taking selfies and pictures in general thus I have no decent ones to show. So this will serve as a lesson for me that next time, next time do exert more effort in taking photographs.

So that's how my February ended. I just hope as we start the new year next month more trips will come.

For him its all about 'its the journey not the destination.'

Hit and Miss

Hit and Miss

And just like that January is gone!

Where and how it went ill never know for I was so busy focusing on my "resolution" (and to actually do them) when it hit me, 4 weeks has passed.

I did say that for this year I will try to make a focus list on what I want to do. So for the first month of this year I have manage to both fail and inevitably change some on my list. But, with my epic fails comes my accomplishment too; so for January this is my list.

Hit

1. I haven't baked anything for the whole month. Anything! As 2013 closed I panicked when I saw the scale tipped on a dangerous level. And I blame my Bakeathon for it. As I am not a fitness buff I reckon cutting on the source could possibly keep the scale happy. But as stopping altogether is out of the question I just decided to try it for a month (longest month of my life), and I did. Thankfully though, today is Febuary 1. Phew!

2. No buying of new product until the one in use is finish.Though I am always tempted to pour everything excessively when using, just to speed up the process. This goes for books too.

3. Joining the smoothie band wagon I did made green smoothie everyday for two weeks. My limit was two weeks, I don't want to drive myself into force drinking. So I'll try again next two week, as I've had my break.

Miss

1. My one coffee a day failed miserably. The one day I tried to have without, the caffeine withdrawal I had was so bad that I had migraine and got sick and missed work the following day. So now back to three,... or four.

2. No cakes, biscuits, tartes, cupcakes etc for a month. However, first there was Paul, then there was the duffin, that I just gave up. And why does breads become extra, inexplicably, inviting and delicious when you want to cut down? So there, Hands down.

3. I wanted to catch up more on my reading. I wanted to finish the first three books of PC Grant series but sadly I didn't made it. I am now on the third installment but my time ran out.

I wonder if others struggles as I do in keeping their focus lists..
