Barcelona Babymoon
This I've got to say has been a trip years in the making. For one, after all this time, this year we decided to push through our focus board and go abroad. Which is about time to be honest. And second and most importantly was the fact that should we be blessed with our own little peanut we said we'd pay homage to either Trevi Fountain or Sagrada Familia. Obviously Sagrada won.
I used to imagine stuffing myself with chorizo, jamon, paella, churros, sangria and the likes when I go to this part of the world. Unfortunately, we went as I just clocked passing the first trimester and my tummy wasn't certainly up for it. I had but sadly stare on my list of restaurant to go to and food to eat. Tempting and torture. I did took a bite here and there but definitely far from the gobbling that I imagined.
Though we had to queue for at least 30mins to get into the church of Sagrada Famila it was truly the highlight of our trip. It was just amazing and so worth the trip. Gaudi and how his mind worked is just out of this world.
Closely following was the flamenco show at the Tablao Cordobles. The show just gave me goosebumps. I have loved flamenco since my college days and we would watch shows about it, but nothing, nothing prepared me for it.
We were lucky that the place we stayed at was walking distance to Las Ramblas, which was one of their main tourist strip. Few mins of walk and there you are again right smack in the middle of the crowd. It was also a bonus that the hotel was right at one of the exit of their metro train. Hence, moving about the city was breezy.
The city is just beautiful as I thought it would be, but also you can't escape the signs that the country is still struggling to get out of recession. There's even something about the vibe, a bit of muted vibrancy. It must be stunning during it's heyday and definitely in the future. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful city.
